Company history
David Bowman’s first order was for three Kryptonite locks, which he deliveredby bus to a dealer in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. The
Kryptonite U lock had never before been seen in Quebec or anywhere else in
Canada. Thirty years later, OGC is one of the best-known distributors in theindustry, marketing more than 20 high-value brands, industry leaders thathave been loyal to Bowman for years. These include Kryptonite locks,
Blackburn accessories, Bell and Giro helmets, Mavic wheels andaccessories, Saris racks and Camelbak hydration systems.
"Anticipating the market and identifying innovative new products is key to ourstrategy and positioning. It’s sometimes a risky approach, because theseproducts may be unknown. Up to now, our team’s instincts have served uswell. Fifteen years ago, we launched the first suspension bikes on the
Canadian market. Year after year, we’ve tried to forge a reputation as leadersand innovators," says Mr. Bowman, who also recalls discovering Oakleyeyewear products, unknown back then, at a trade show in New York morethan 20 years ago and introducing them to the Canadian market.
