Description

North West Group is comprised of several employee owned companies specializing in aerial photography and related services in Canada and the international market. This service can be traced to 1968 when the capability was first established.
Since that date innumerable complex projects to various technical specifications have been completed around the world.

North West owns and operates seven high performance aircraft equipped with the latest digital imagery and LiDAR sensors available.

TYPICAL PROJECTS/CLIENTS

1994 to 2009 - National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP)
NAIP is a national $30,000,000 1 or 2m digital orthophoto (true colour or colour infrared) program administered by the USDA for the Farm Service Agency for crop compliance. North West has been awarded 25% of the annual program since 2005.

2007 NAIP – This was a reduced program (30% of previous years) due to FSA budget cuts. North West was awarded ADS40-II 1m four band orthophoto in Arizona (117,651 sq mi, 7,643 DOQQs) and 2m CIR Indiana (38,153 sq mi, 2,666 DOQQs)

2006 NAIP – Largest contract awarded for ADS40 2m CIR orthophoto Texas and colour Montana (113,519 mi., 25,843 DOQQs) and 1m colour state-wide Utah, Nevada and Wyoming (93,631 mi., 21,545 DOQQs)

2005 NAIP – Largest contract awarded for ADS40 2m CIR orthophoto Texas (267,339 sq. mi., 17,182 DOQQs) and 1m colour state-wide California and Montana (309,377 sq. mi., 22,782 DOQQs)

2004 NAIP – ADS40 1m CIR state-wide Texas and 1m colour state-wide Idaho colour and partial colour coverage of Louisiana (361,483 sq. mi., 25,229 DOQQs)

2003 NAIP - ADS40 1m color orthophoto imagery of Nebraska (200,000 km2, 5,873 DOQQs)

UTAH STATE – UNITED STATES
2006 - As an add-on to its 2006 USDA Utah NAIP imagery collection program, North West was contracted by the State of Utah to provide collection of digital aerial imagery/LiDAR and delivery of colour digital orthophotography and a LiDAR DEM for the approximately 19,000 square miles of the State of Utah.

ALBERTA SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT/MD OF WILLOW CREEK ALBERTA - CANADA
2006 - North West was contracted to provide collection of digital aerial imagery and delivery of 0.50m CIR digital orthophotography, panchromatic digital orthophotography and stereo CIR imagery for approximately 65,000 sq km in southern Alberta, Canada. This is referred to as the Foothills Little Bow project.

CENTRAL ALBERTA - CANADA
The Foothills Little Bow project was continued north through central Alberta. This was 0.50m proprietary ADS40-II acquisition of 168,500 sq km using the ADS40-II sensor.

WOOLPERT, INC. OHIO – UNITED STATES
This was a two year program to provide state-wide 0.30m color orthophoto, 1m CIR orthophoto and 0.15m color orthophoto of select counties.

2007 - 17,832 sq mi 0.30 RGB imagery for counties in southern Ohio, 4,500 line miles of 0.15m RGB imagery and 17,500 sq mi of 1.0m CIR imagery in southern Ohio.

2006 - North West was contracted to provide approximately 23,442 sq mi of 0.30m digital RGB imagery for counties in northern Ohio.

MONTANA STATE – UNITED STATES
2005/2006 – The State of Montana contracted North West to provide 1 meter CIR digital orthophotos of Montana using the USDA 1m ADS40 data.

BRITISH COLUMBIA, MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, LANDS, AND PARKS – CANADA
2005 – Ministry of Sustainable Resources 2005 Bark Beetle Mapping Program
4,117 LM of 1:30,000 colour photo obtained in the southeastern Rockies and Kootenay areas of British Columbia.

1988 to 2005 - Contracts averaged 50,000kms per season for various scales of photo from 1:10,000 to 1:70,000 throughout British Columbia. This is an area known for its rugged terrain and difficult weather. Since 1993 all photography was electronically positioned with digital position data required.


LiDAR SURVEYS

North West Speculative Surveys
2003-2007 – In 2003 North West began a proprietary, speculative LiDAR acquisition program in western Canada. The purpose of the program was to create a unified LiDAR data set in north east British Columbia, Alberta and southern Saskatchewan. To date the program has resulted in over 250,000 km2 being acquired and distributed through North West’s on-line data distribution division, Valtus Imagery Services.

Talisman - Alberta
2005 – North West completed a detailed LiDAR survey in the Grande Cache region of western Alberta in support of Talisman’s oil and gas exploration activities. The survey area covered approximately 4,900 km2 with a vertical accuracy of less than 0.30m.

EnCana Corporation - Canada
2003 - North West undertook a proprietary LiDAR survey in the Fort Nelson region of north east British Columbia in support of the area’s oil and gas exploration programs. The total area surveyed was approximately 32,000km2 with a vertical accuracy of better than 0.2m. Of this total data set, EnCana Corporation purchased approximately 12,000km2 for their planning and seismic survey purposes.
