NONIA of Newfoundland

Founded in 1920, NONIA is a non-profit organization that supports Newfoundland outport communities by selling handknit garments to fund public health nurses. Today, it continues as a social enterprise with a volunteer board and a small staff, employing about 140 knitters across the province to produce high-quality sweaters, socks, hats, and mitts for all ages. NONIA's handmade products are unique, reflecting traditional methods and local craftsmanship, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
