The Muskoka Community Initiative (MCI) is designed to assist local organizations and communities in their pursuit of creative, community-based projects that promote and support economic self-sufficiency and independence. This is best achieved through the formation of working partnerships dedicated to achieving shared goals. Muskoka Futures, in alliance with other sources, will assist by providing coordinating services and financial incentives to community groups whose projects meet this ideal.

Over the last 10 years, there has been significant change on our local economy as we have seen the demise of large manufacturers, but an increase in the overall number of businesses. Through the research of this economic development, recommendations clearly focus on the importance of providing support for entrepreneurs who are taking risks, encouraging local businesses to work together, and to provide education and training opportunities. The consultation process clearly identified gaps in local programming and the need to develop support services to address the gaps.

Muskoka Futures offers workshops on building your business skills for a strong foundation for your new or existing business. Our workshops focus on your unique business challenges in a small and relaxed environment of facilitated discussion. We encourage sharing about your own experience and collaborate with other business owners to brainstorm solutions to common obstacles. We also invite industry professionals to lead specialized workshops so you benefit from first hand knowledge from the pros.
