Our Awards Thank you Prince Edward Island for making Murphy's Pharmacies a National Award Winning Health Care Provider. We appreciate you trusting us with your family's health care needs for over 28 years. Inductee to the Junior Achievement of Prince Edward Island Business Hall of Fame In June 2009, Ray Murphy was inducted into the Junior Achievement of Prince Edward Island Business Hall of Fame for "Entrepreneur and Island Benefactor toward Health and Humanity". Ray and his wife Carolyn began Murphy's Pharmacies with the purchase of Parkdale Pharmacy in 1981. The company has grown to include eight pharmacy locations, five medical centres, Murphy's Home Health Care locations, Murphy's Medication Compounding Laboratory, Murphy's Health Education Centre, Murphy's Travel Health Clinic, Murphy's Community Centre, Murphy's Community Care Pharmacy, and Murphy's Health Zone. Ray Murphy has been recognized for his commitment to the health and well being of islanders throughout Island communities. Winner of the 2008 National Commitment to Care & Service Award for Charitable Work presented by Pharmacy Practice The Murphy family was presented with the Charitable Work Award at the Commitment to Care & Service Awards Ceremony held in Toronto on November 18th, 2008. The Commitment to Care & Service Awards is a national award program hosted by Pharmacy Practice and Drugstore Pharmacy, Canada's leading pharmacy magazines. For over 27 years, the Murphy family has been believed strongly in buildling healthier communities. Their continued support of Prince Edward Island's charitable and volunteer organizations is one way in which they put this concept to action. Murphy's Pharmacies has dedicated time and resources to a long list of non-profit organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation and numerous other community groups and organizations. But perhaps the Murphy family's largest contribution to Prince Edward Island is Murphy's Community Centre, located in Charlottetown, formerly known as the Basilica Recreation Centre. "Such dedication to charitable work is unprecedented," said one Commitment to Care & Services Awards judge. "I can only stand in awe of all the work they have done."
