Description

Meadow Montessori School has been guiding children and their families in Maple Ridge for over 25 years! Founded in 1985 by the Meadow Montessori School Society, Meadow Montessori School is an exceptional, affordable alternative offering Preschool and Elementary (K-6), including a half-day Kindergarten program. At Meadow Montessori we know the importance of creating a rich, diverse learning environment in which children have the opportunity to explore and experience a wide range of interests. Preschool and elementary children learn at their own pace through guided exploration. In learning from their personal experiences, they own the knowledge they have gained. Students leave Meadow Montessori with a secure foundation to successfully transition into future studies.

“Mr.G.” was born and raised in Maple Ridge. He comes to Meadow Montessori School with over ten years of teaching experience at all levels in the public, private and international sectors. He has his Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Teacher Education (U.B.C., 2002), B.C. College of Teachers Certificate (2002), Bachelor of Arts (S.F.U., 2000), and TESL Canada Federation Professional Certificate (2011). “I enjoy working with children of all ages and have made teaching my life-long profession. I welcome the opportunity to share with our students the ‘wisdom’ of my past educators and the ‘ life experiences’ that I have encountered. My ultimate goal and reward is that my students learn to ‘ take control ’ of their learning and use the learning process as a tool for future success throughout their lives.

“I have always enjoyed being with young children, and it is my personal goal to help others to become the best they are meant to be. I have been in the Early Childhood Education field for 10+ years, and received my Montessori 3-6 diploma through the Montessori Training Center of B.C. (A.M.I) in 2002, and my 0-3 Montessori Assistant to infancy diploma through Montessori training center of San Diego in 2005. I have enjoyed working with both age groups, but my preference is working with the older children as I am now. It excites me to see the 3-5 age group succeed in their learning and to hear them say “I did it!”.

When our daughter had to go to school we didn’t specifically go looking for Montessori we just knew that “good enough” was not the standard that we wanted to set for our child.

When our daughter had to go to school we didn’t specifically go looking for Montessori we just knew that “good enough” was not the standard that we wanted to set for our child. I had a horrible experience in public school so I wanted private; Dad had a great experience in public school so he felt differently. I conceded and we visited several public schools. They seemed okay but it was what we heard over and over again from the parents that swayed us toward private school, that statement was, “it’s good enough”. Just by pure chance, and now extremely thankfully, we found ourselves in a Montessori school and, we will be staying. I can think of no reason why we would give less richness, care, competencies, and growth to our child both as a person and community kid, eventually community adult. We are grateful and forever thankful that Meadow Montessori offers a rewarding affordable learning environment even in these tough economic times. It’s a tremendous school.
