LivClean is a private social enterprise and our mission is to provide value and quality to our members while ensuring costs are minimized. Just like any other organization (private, public or non-profit) LivClean aims to achieve a revenue stream that allows us to be a self sustaining organization. By doing so, we are able to use independent auditors and third party verifiers annually to ensure we adhere to the quality metrics that we say we support such as no double counting, efficiency, additionality and accuracy. By striving for a 10% profit margin, we are able to fund projects that reduce CO2 emissions; identify, select and certify new projects; pay for CO2 reduction verifications and certificates; website maintenance and utilize commercial activities needed to identify new customers and promote carbon offsetting to maximize the message of helping the environment as a whole.

Ironically, citizens of developing countries—where climate change will take its greatest toll—produce only a fraction of the greenhouse gases of Canadians. Canadians are the second worst offenders in the world, next to the US. Canada produces about 700 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year. That’s 24 tonnes PER PERSON. This is roughly 50 times the consumption rate of Bangladesh, a country that stands to be largely eliminated by climate change-induced sea level rise. Canadians use more energy than all of the 760 million inhabitants of Africa put together. Canada makes up less than one half of one percent of the world's population, but is the world's eighth largest producer of total carbon dioxide.
