In the early 1950's Arthur Leger began processing Smoked Herring Bloaters in Cap Pele, New Brunswick. At that time his market was concerntrated in the West Indies.His son Leslie Leger became active in the familly firm in the late 1950's and acquired the business from his father in 1975. In those days, the company's facilities were very modest and operations took place only in the Spring Season.
