We have been building, servicing and repairing sails on Vancouver Island and in Vancouver since 1976. Sailmaking is our passion and we strive to provide the best in quality, design, performance and value. Service is what sets a local loft apart from the competition and we constantly work hard to provide expertise, professional workmanship and a timely response to our customers' needs. Leitch and McBride sails are built in North America using only the best materials from Challenge Sailcloth, Dimension-Polyant and Bainbridge. Our cruising sails have seen countless blue water miles and our race sails have proven themselves time and time again.

In 2010 Paul Betts joined Leitch and McBride to help us extend our business hours, maintain our high level of personal service and bring new energy to the firm. Paul has over 20 years of experience working in the marine industry as a sailmaker, rigger and in retail. He last worked at UK Halsey Sailmakers and prior to that Paul managed Bosun's Locker, the Vancouver Island Vanguard Laser Dealer. Paul learned sailmaking at the Hood Sails loft in Victoria and spent time in Japan working at the Hot Sails Maui overflow loft. He has years of experience with sailboat hardware, systems and rigging and is available to consult with our customers on any aspect of sails, rigging and deck layouts.

We provide an evaluation and a quote in writing* on all our repair or service work. Most of the time the evaluation and quote can be done while you wait. Once approved we have a quick turn around time and will come in at or below our quote.
