Description
Waiting for Jack, Morgan James Publishing, 2010 by Kristen Moeller is a fantastic antidote for anyone who is waiting for life to start. If you are unhappy because you are not what you would like to be - yet - then this is the book for you. Kristen Moeller is very honest in this book. She tells her life story with all her fears, anxieties and problems on display, how she ran away from life because she never felt good enough. After going downhill fast early in her life, she climbed out of her self-created hole and learned a lot about how to be happy in the present. She talks about her childhood anxieties, her descent into addiction, bulimia and other forms of escape followed by growing self awareness and self discovery. She calls herself a self-help junkie because she spent so much time looking for someone or something outside of herself to make her feel right until she realized that everything she was feeling was really created by herself, her own fears and attitudes. She explains how many people put their lives on hold because they are waiting for something to happen, like the dream job, dream house or any other dream that will signal that you have achieved real success. She explains that we need to stop living by the standards and definitions of success imposed on us by others and start defining success for ourselves. The real key is to recognize that happiness is not something you have to achieve or work toward. It is an attitude: a decision we can make to be happy with who we are now and what we have now. It's about starting to live today, no longer putting our lives on hold for some future which may never happen. The book is full of practical tips for dealing with all kinds of everyday anxieties, self doubts and self esteem issues that everyone faces at some point in their lives. This is a very easy to read, inspiring book that everyone can enjoy and learn from. The author is not just telling her life story and explaining lessons she learned, however. She also studied psychology in depth and became a trained counsellor and coach in the process.
