Description

Headquartered in Papineauville, Quebec, Lauzon began exporting its premium hardwood flooring product lines in 1990 and quickly acquired a reputation for excellence and reliability in the international marketplace. Today, 75 percent of the company's sales are made in Asia, Europe and the United States.

"Our focus on innovation and our unparalleled concern of quality combined with our determination to enter the international marketplace are the main reasons for our growth", explains company President David Lauzon, who founded the business at age
21. In 1996, Lauzon was the first North American hardwood flooring manufacturer to obtain ISO 9002 certification, an event repeated with pride in October 2001 when it was the first in
North America to qualify under the new ISO 9001-2000 standards.
In 1999, the company created Polynium, the first finish to offer
25-year protection against wear, a previously unheard-of level of protection. NextStep, its new generation of fusion engineered flooring, and Classics, the company's line of prefinished and unfinished hardwood flooring, both produced from wood grown in our northern forests, have earned acclaim throughout the world for their quality and virtually perfect precision milling. This success places Lauzon amongst the five leading flooring manufacturers in North America.

The company's success also translates into positive results for the community: its strategy of complete vertical integration, from forest to finished product, has led to the creation of several hundred jobs in Quebec and abroad, its environmental practices are among the most advanced in the industry and the company is deeply committed to enhancing the skills of its employees and to helping the community prepare the next generation of workers for value-added technologies.

In September 2001, LAUZON received the prestigous Canada Export
Award and a special Continuous Quality Achievement Award from
The Honorable Pierre S. Pettigrew, International Trade Minister -
Government of Canada. Prior to that LAUZON was honored three consecutive years amongst the 50 Best Managed Private Companies in Canada.
