Description

Founded in 1881, the company began as a manufacturer of carriage harness. Early in the 1900’s, the company moved from it’s origins on King Street in Toronto to Broadview Avenue, where it remained for over 75 years. At this location, the company expanded into the manufacture of police duty gear, sporting goods, commercial and industrial products. It was during this period, Kirkpatrick’s operated the sporting goods store at Maple Leaf Gardens. In 1981, Kirkpatrick’s moved to it’s industrial location in Markham, north of Toronto.

The current owner, Brian Lindsay, has been a leather craftsman for over 40 years. Brian honed his skills as a saddle maker in Western Canada for a decade and returned to Toronto where he purchased Kirkpatrick’s in 1988. Brian’s extensive experience in custom design and innovative prototype development has enhanced what Kirkpatrick’s is able to offer it’s security, industrial, commercial and retail customers.
