Kenomee Log Homes Ltd. is a family business, established in
1979, incorporated in 1981.
The manufacturing plant as well as the show home/office is settled in Economy, Nova Scotia, at the beautiful coastline of the Minas Basin(Bay of Fundy).
In the past 20 years we have built homes all through Canada,
Germany, England, USA and Japan. We will be involved, personally in all phases of planing, design, delivery and construction of a home, if so desired by the customer.
Kenomme Log Homes are built from Northern White Cedar. White
Cedar needs neither preservatives nor pressure treating. White
Cedar is highly resistant to decay and insects, which means that no chemical treatment of the logs is needed. However, the logs can be stained and in fact hold the stain very well to keep it's natural colour.
Cedar is much less prone to checking and cracking than other woods and the cracks that do occur are less deep. If external preservatives or sealants are used, checking is further reduced.

Kenomee's patented precision milling will turn the log into a smooth, round shape with a double tongue and groove joining and sealing system. This profile creates an airlock for additional insulation and a beautiful finish. Spikes are driven approximately every two feet to fasten the logs together. The air dried logs keep the shrinking and settling at it's absolute minimum - less than 1" on an 8' wall, which our building techniques will allow for. Precision milling also makes
Kenomee's saddle notch corners air-tight. Each log is connected with a dovetail-spline to ensure a tight fit for the butt-joints.

Kenomee Log Homes offers three different sizes of logs - 6", 7" and 8" in diameter.

Next to a wide variety of standard plans, we also custom design to individual taste. Once a design is approved, Kenomee can usually ship a home within 4-6 weeks. A standard 8' exterior shell can be erected by 4 people in 16 hours.

The customers have several options to build a Kenomee Log Home:
- they may have KLH handle all of the details, so they can move into a completely finished home
- they may wish to hire their own contactors or one of our network of authorized Kenomee contractor, or
- they may prefer to do all or some of the work themselves.

Kenomee Log Homes Ltd. offers an extensive 10-year-warranty to it's customers.

As an alternative to the log homes, we also offer complete packages of stick frame-homes. These homes can be sided to the customers liking. We have often requests for Red Cedar Siding or our unique Half-Log White Cedar Siding.
