Because jewellery is kept for many years, precious metals, stones and pearls need maintenance and care. This applies to all Fine and Sterling silver jewellery. Jewellery should be removed before going to bed or when performing work or exercise that will subject the jewellery to undue wear. Avoid contact with make-up, creams, and perfumes. Do not take a bath, shower when wearing jewellery with pearls. Chlorine and Salt water corrode the surface of both gold and silver jewellery. Use a jewellery polishing cloth to restore the original lustre of your jewellery. Should further cleaning be required (with the exception of Pearls) immerse the jewellery into warm water and gently scrub using dish detergent and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly with water and polish with a jewellery cloth. Never immerse jewellery into liquid jewellery cleaner with stones or pearls or if the jewellery has a patina (blackened detail) on it. It will remove the oxidized finish and harm pearls and stones. It can be used if the piece is made completely of sterling or fine silver. Store jewellery in pouches to prevent tarnish. Store away from heat and sunlight. Never store pearls in plastic bags.
