What is the difference between a Roadster and a Speedster? Our Roadster is a faithful reproduction of the 1959 Porsche 356 A convertible "D". This one-year model replaced the Speedster in the Porsche line up. The Speedster ran from 1955 until 1958 and was conceived by famed New York sports car importer/distributor Max Hoffman as competition to the British sports cars of the day. The Speedster was to be an inexpensive "bare bones" sports car that could be driven to the track, raced, and driven home.
