Our members are from all walks of life, and are of many different nationalities, economic backgrounds, and lifestyles. Diversity is one of our great strengths, but we also face some challenges: re-designing units for older members; creating housing for young people; helping members gain employment so they can maintain their homes; and keeping our own houses properly maintained. A central challenge to Innstead is building and maintaining community, which can be difficult, thanks to the scattered nature of our properties. Because of our focus on building connections that last, Innstead requires of any joining members a commitment to leave here for at least a year. Short- term housing is not available.
