Description

Jewish life in Ste Agathe and the surrounding Laurentian areas is thriving and dates back for over a century. Our synagogue, the House of Israel Congregation was founded in 1943 and the original building was dedicated in 1953. Since its original dedication, our building has been renovated and expanded twice as result the growth and needs of our community. Census Canada reports that the Jewish population in the Laurentian region is growing, something that is rare for any rural area in North America.
