The Winnipeg Humane Society is looking for donations of used gently used books and movies (DVD and VHS) of all genres. People may drop off their items at the front reception desk inside The Winnipeg Humane Society's shelter (45 Hurst Way). No magazines please. Then on Louis Riel Day, Monday February 15th from 12 to 5, selling them! All proceeds from the sale will be directed towards caring for the animals in the shelter and around the community. A Pancake Brunch/General Meeting of the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 AMSt. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church 455 Douglas Avenue. With guest speaker Don Pattie, pastry chef in the culinary arts program at Red River College. He will be sharing some tips on baking with gluten free ingredients. The Children's Wish Foundation's Bear Your Heart goes down February 8th at Earls St. James. Local athletes have created their own build a bear and are auctioning them off! All proceeds raised from this dinner will go towards the Rain-Water Harvesting Project in Karatu, Africa. Helping Hands for Manitobans with Breast Cancer Inc. presents "Dancin' for Dollar$" featuring the live band "The Marvells" Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 8 p.m. at the Masonic Memorial Temple at 420 Corydon Avenue. Tickets are just $20 to get them call 256-7955 or 231-3487. Winnipeg Harvest feeds nearly 6 000 families every week. Their shelves are getting beare. They're looking for baby food, canned fish, poultry, fruit, veggies, soups, stews, chili, whole grain pasta, rice, and high fibre cereals. As well, for every donated dollar Harvest can leverage that to be worth $20 in food! The 2010 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games are headed to Portage La Priaire! They're looking for volunteers.
