To achieve the growth outlined in Vision 2020 , and to meet the evolving needs of travellers, tourism needs skilled, knowledgeable staff. Our people and communities must understand the importance of tourism to the province’s economic and social well-being, and the importance of their own roles in building our unique brand of service.

Our organization will continue to advocate strongly for the tourism industry and is committed to working with all stakeholders in the province to advocate to the federal government regarding Marine Atlantic. A sustainable, reliable and affordable transportation system that meets the evolving needs of travellers and tourism operators is an essential component in our industry’s ability to reach our goal of doubling annual tourism revenues by 2020 and will serve as a conduit of growth for the province. The role of Marine Atlantic Inc. in our ability to achieve Vision 2020 cannot be overstated.

Working with our members, as well as numerous provincial and federal partners, HNL strives to develop a business environment that fosters growth and efficiency, instead of complex processes and unnecessary red tape.

Travel to, from, and around the province, whether by sea, air, or road is constrained by issues of affordability, capacity, infrastructure and quality. In order to continue to develop a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, our provincial transportation system must serve as a conduit of growth offering travellers accessible, affordable, and reliable service that meets their evolving needs.

Working with our close relationships with various sector associations, HNL is able to develop and adopt actions that are beneficial to both the sector and the tourism industry as a whole.
