Hope Seeds & Perennials (HSP) is based in the well-kept secret of Knowlesville, New Brunswick. In 1993 HSP was started by Kim Edmondson of Keswick Ridge. Encouraged to make her seed-saving hobby a source of income, Kim offered her heritage seeds and perennials to family, friends and eventually the wider heritage gardening community. In 2004, Kim passed the business on to new owners as her life took a new direction, yet continues to provide many of the seeds HSP carries. Andrea Berry has taken on HSP with great enthusiasm and continued passion started through Kim. Transplanting the business to her own "neck of the woods" in Knowlesville, Andrea maintains the office, grows seed and seedlings, processes orders, updates the website, designs the catalogue, coordinates with growers and takes HSP to market. Andrea's interest in seed saving started with her organic farming apprenticeship at Everdale Farm in Ontario, and continues with her work as Organic Agriculture Coordinator at Falls Brook Centre part-time. Most of the seeds Andrea grows are at FBC's certified organic gardens, although 2006 will see the expansion of gardens at the HSP home base. Tegan Wong-Daugherty is HSP's garlic goddess, along with stewarding some squash, peppers and tomatoes. She started seed saving for Falls Brook Centre's Acadian Forest Restoration Nursery and Maritime Heritage Seed Garden. Tegan's husband Leland is the artistry and technique behind the HSP website...
