Description

It started with our customers asking all sorts of honeybee related questions of our staff, and being fascinated by what they learned. We soon added a glass observation hive in the store so that our customers could actually watch a working colony in action. This stimulated even more questions and peaked the interest of some of our customers that were teachers and wanting to bring in their students. From there we developed a program to facilitate school field trips, which was later adapted to other youth groups and birthday parties.

Just like our Country Store, the first thing that you will notice when you enter is the sweet smell of honey and beeswax that permeates the store. The comfortable environment and friendly staff introduce you to the health benefits of the many natural bee products that we specialize in. Finally, the honey tasting . . . how sweet it is!.

Honeybee Centre produces natural honeybee products including a number of specialty honeys, pollen, nutritional supplements, natural soap, and beeswax candles. We augment our own production with specialty items from suppliers that are well-known to us and that have the same strong commitment to quality. Learn more about our products.

Honeybee Centre operates its own Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved Honey Producer – Packer facility (CFIA #2792). Honey collected from our colonies is extracted from the honeycomb frames using our automated extraction line. During this process the honeycomb is uncapped and honey is removed from the comb using a centrifuge. The honey is then pumped into settling tanks where most wax particles float to the top, thus leaving what is termed as “raw” honey. At this point in the process, we pour some of the raw honey directly from the settling tanks into containers for our customers that desire “raw” honey.
