Description
Once a player reaches the Pee Wee or Bantam level, we are very careful not to change a player's skating. We make adjustments. We keep the group sizes small so that we can help players individually and thus, run drills that are specific to the needs for his/her improvement. Also, every athlete learns differently. Some of us learn kinetically, visually, verbally, etc. By getting to know the athlete right away, we can easily identify this very important part of the learning process. Barbara Aidelbaum has authored many articles on technical power ice hockey skating. The articles cover basic skating technique. At Barb Aidelbaum Skating Schools , we take many factors into consideration. Some issues that enter into the play when analyzing a player's skating style are: body type, height and weight, playing position, left or right shot, and the blade radius and degree of hollow that the blade has been sharpened. We train the skills at various speeds. When the technique is perfect it is executed at top end speed with the puck. It then has to be repeated thousands of times to become a reflex action.
