Hidden Bench Vineyards and Winery is an artisanal winery dedicated to producing ultra premium wines solely from vineyards situated within the Beamsville Bench VQA sub- appellation. Non-interventionist, quality focused and terroir driven Hidden Bench wines are produced from three distinct vineyards totaling almost 100 acres within the Beamsville Bench VQA sub-appellation. As an estate winery all of our wines are produced with only vinifera grapes grown in our own vineyards. Founded in 2003 by Harald Thiel and family, Hidden Bench is a quality driven, terroir based winery whose varital focus is Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. In addition we also produce limited quantities of a white meritage, Nuit Blanche, and two distinct red blends, Terror Cache, and the super premium La Brunante. Our 2005 production was approximately 3,000 cases and we anticipate that total production will eventually reach a maximum of about 8,000 cases in 2010. Due to strong demand and a small supply most wines are already on limited allocations. Although we produced wine in the 2004 vintage, we declassified the total production and sold the unfinished wine as we did not believe that the wines merited the Hidden Bench name. This was a costly action but we believe it reflective and a good example of our uncompromising commitment to quality.
