Heritage Gas Limited is a Nova Scotia-based company formed for the purpose of obtaining and operating a full regulation class natural gas distribution franchise for Nova Scotia. It is founded by a strong ownership group that together have experience in natural gas distribution and strong roots in Nova Scotia. SaskEnergy Inc. is the majority shareholder with 50.1 percent, while Scotia Investments Limited owns 25 percent and AltaGas Utility Holdings (Nova Scotia) Inc. owns 24.9 percent. Heritage Gas will build on all three companies' decades of experience in designing, constructing and operating natural gas distribution and transmission systems. Heritage Gas is committed to building a natural gas distribution system in Nova Scotia. It believes a natural gas distribution system must be grounded by sound economic principles. Heritage Gas' philosophy is to obtain customer commitment and then build infrastructure. Using this principle, development will occur as customer commitment is confirmed.
