Description
The HCCAO is committed to working with the Ministry of Education to increase the accountability of child care programs in Ontario homes to stabilize the child care system and to provide families with quality options to meet their child care needs. The HCCAO has shared information with the Ministry of Education and has recommended a “phased-in” approach. In the first phase all home child care would be governed by the same legislation. Enforcement would be complaint driven as are several other provincial laws.
The Home Child Care Association of Ontario is pleased to provide a response to Modernizing Child Care in Ontario: Sharing Conversations. Strengthening Partnerships, Working Together , released by the Ministry of Education in June 2012. Our association is grateful for the commitment that government has demonstrated, through the release of the discussion paper, to addressing the challenges facing the sector.
From HCCAO's President For more than 30 years the Home Child Care Association of Ontario has been promoting, developing and supporting home-based child care services for families through licensed agencies. Now, more than ever, it is essential that the HCCAO maintain its connections to government officials to ensure that the interests of our members are known and that decision-makers fully appreciate the breadth of experience and knowledge that licensed home early learning and child care advocates bring to the table.
