Gunn's Bakery was established in Winnipeg in 1937 by Morris and Florence Gunn. Their goal was to provide their customers with the finest quality baked goods made and sold in a clean environment. They quickly gained an excellent reputation and success. Expansion followed expansion as new and more modern equipment and bigger ovens were added.

Gunn's Bakery is one of the oldest family-run bakeries in Western Canada. It was founded in 1937 by Morris Gunn, a baker's son who emigrated to Canada from Poland in the thirties.

The first beugel bakeries were founded in New York City in the 1920s. Later the name was Americanized and called a bagel. Bagels have been used to symbolize the continuous cycle of life - without beginning and without end.
