Guelph Hydro Inc., and its family of four operating subsidiaries, provides a broad range of services and products to the Guelph community. Our predecessor company, the Board of Light and Heat Commissioners of the City of Guelph, served the community for over 90 years before it was restructured on November 1, 2000. The Board of Light and Heat Commissioners of the City of Guelph served the citizens of this City since 1903. Guelph was one of the thirteen municipalities that created the Hydro Electric Power Commission of Ontario in 1906; the provincial utility that became Ontario Hydro. So we have a long history in the electricity industry in this Province. We are also proud that for over 90 years we have served the citizens of Guelph with a reliable supply of electricity.
