See Map >> The primary ingredient of glass is high quality sand, which is mined from deposits and river beds. Recycling glass helps preserve these sand reserves for future generations and also saves landfill space. It also takes less energy to make new products from recycled glass than from raw materials. Click Here for Wikopedia article on glass recycling Greys will accept all types of glass (clear, coloured, mixed), however, the glass has to be free of hazardous material and any radioactive coatings. All waste glass needs to be sorted and cannot be co-mingled with other waste streams. A tipping fee of approximately $47 per ton will be collected at the scales of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre. If you want to deliver large quantities, please notify Greys in advance, so they can make arrangements for the receipt of material. The first batch of glass will be pulverized into sand and used in the construction of our monolithic dome facilities, as they require large quantities of sand. Following that, waste glass will be recycled and used to manufacture a variety of products including certain construction materials, interlocking bricks, ceramics, recycled glass tiles and more.
