The Greenhorizons Group of Farms has been a dominate sod supplier in Ontario for over 35 years. The knowledge, passion and energy for turf throughout the company by the owners (Ron and Steve Schiedel), Managers and workers is second to none. The key element of growing sod successfully is taking full advantage of every turf growing day of the year.

Greenhorizons Group of Farms has evolved from over 200 years of farming by the Schiedel family in Ontario. The ancestors of Greenhorizons’ founder Richard Schiedel purchased large tracts of land along the banks of the Speed and Grand Rivers more than two centuries ago where they successfully farmed in both dairy and grain crops into the 1980's. In 1975 the Schiedels began transitioning to Kentucky bluegrass sod production in Cambridge. That farm was named Compact Sod, the first production facility of what has now become The Greenhorizons Group of Farms.

The passion and knowledge of golf starts at the top at Greenhorizons. When company owners, Ron and Steve Schiedel, say built Willow Valley, they mean it. Many know them as hands-on guys that didn’t hesitate to jump in if something needed to be bulldozed, seeded, sodded or hand raked. Greenhorizons knowledge comes from years of experience working with golf course owners, superintendents and golf course contractors. Combined with operating the golf course on a daily basis, this experience allows Greenhorizons to serve the golf course industry in unparalleled ways.
