Whirlpool Corporation is the largest manufacturer of home appliances in the world. Some of their more popular brands include: Amana, Bauknecht, Inglis, Jenn-Aire, KitchenAid, Maytag and Roper. They also currently manufacture IKEA brand appliances for IKEA (with an impressive 5-year warranty), Admiral appliances for Home Depot and certain appliances under the Kenmore label for Sears. Whirlpool is an enormous multinational corporation with its headquarters in Michigan and global manufacturing, research and marketing facilities.

General Electric is one of the largest manufacturers of home appliances in the world. North American based, they have been in business since 1907 and produce in-sink garbage disposals, dishwashers, washers, dryers, stove tops, built-in wall ovens and free-standing stoves or ranges, refrigerators and freezers. GE is considered an excellent choice for mid-range quality appliances and they are very popular in Canada. Many GE appliances are also available in builder grade and their high quality appliances are found among the built-in models. Parts are readily available, and GE provides excellent customer support.

Once considered the standard laundry appliances, the Maytag Washing Machine Company was founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa. Their first automatic washers were produced in 1949. An interesting fact about the corporation is that it was one of few companies to actually turn a profit during the economic depression of the 1930s.

The Wolf Range Corporation began as a California-based manufacturer of commercial and domestic cooktops, ranges and grills. The company was acquired by Wisconsin-based Sub-Zero in 2000, and the Wolf product line was expanded and incorporated into Sub-Zero’s offerings. The Wolf brand has remained as Sub-Zero’s cooking line, while the Sub-Zero brand continues as the refrigeration side.
