Professor Adam Harmes is a leader in the academic community and an award-winning professor of international relations and foreign policy at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. His first book, Unseen Power:, was widely reviewed and sparked a heated national debate. Having completed his second book, The Return of the State, his writing appears frequently in scholarly journals, newspapers and magazines in many countries. As a serving member of Canada's military Capt. Adam Harmes puts leadership into action as the Officer Commanding, Airborne Operations, for Canada's only reserve parachute Regiment, The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. During is 16 year military career Adam has trained with the US Special Forces, the Gurkas, and the British Parachute Regiment; earning both British and American parachute wings. Major-General (Ret) Lewis MacKenzie is considered the most experienced peacekeeper in the world, and as such encapsulates what being a leader truly is. Prior to his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1993 he commanded troops in : the Gaza strip, Cyprus, Vietnam, Cairo, Central America and Sarajevo. His book, Peacekeeper: The Road to Sarajevo became a No. 1 best seller. Since his retirement from the military, he regularly appears on TV and radio networks as a commentator and is in demand as a lecturer on the subject of leadership . He is an Honorary Chief of the Metro Toronto Police Force, holds Honorary Doctorates from numerous Canadian Universities, is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Canadian Federation of AIDS Research. In 2002 he was invested with the Order of Ontario for his humanitarian work in Eastern Africa. In 2006 he was invested with the Order of Canada. Prior to joining Royal & SunAlliance in 2004 in his current role, Steve was Senior Vice President, Customer Service and Information Services for Manulife's U.S. Pension division. He also held the position of Vice President, Information Services for the U.S. Insurance division. Prior to that, Steve spent 17 years with Independent Order of Foresters in a variety of positions leading up to Vice President Re-engineering & Information Systems.
