Description
Margo has been counselling for over 25 years in several settings including custody and probation, NBCC, Access Youth Centre, cadet chaplaincy, Kingswood University, and the pastorate. Margo was contracted to develop a bilingual peer-counselling support manual for the Canadian Farmers with DisAbilities Registry for use across Canada to help farmers adjust to acquired disabilities. Born in Fredericton, Margo’s love of travel has taken her to all our Canadian provinces—living in several of them as well as England and Massachusetts.
Carolyn Westin is a part time counsellor with Gentle Path. Carolyn has a Bachelor’s Degree from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, a Masters of Divinity from Wycliffe College (University of Toronto) and a Masters of Education in counselling Psychology from Memorial University Newfoundland and Labrador. Carolyn worked in education for many years with teens with learning, cognitive and physical disabilities. After completing her studies in Counselling Psychology, Carolyn became a guidance counsellor of a large inner city high school in St. John’s NL.
Sania is an eclectic psychotherapist with special interest in cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focus therapy, strength base therapy and narrative therapy. As a part of her MA program she completed a thesis examining the effects of parental addiction on teens. Sania has worked with Canada Youth Challenge as counsellor with youth and adults in Alberta, Montreal, Ontario, and the Maritime Provinces.
Bob is a part-time counsellor at Gentle Path and works primarily with men or youth in the area of anger management, family violence, and interpersonal relationships, and he also does marriage counselling. Bob is well-known to professionals in the Saint John area as a result of his work in the area of family violence, particularly the A.D.A.P.T. program for violent men that he developed several years ago and has continued to facilitate. Bob has nearly 30 years of Counselling experience through his involvement at various non- profit and counselling agencies and government departments.
This program consists of two six-week educational programs for adults who want to learn and change Co-dependent behaviours, such as: overcoming conflicts in relationships both past and present; establishing a stronger sense of self identity; how to meet adult wants and needs, and how to express reality moderately. This course promotes self-awareness and healthy relationships and confronts addictions, such as work, food and control.
