For over 20 years, Mr. Meulien has managed expert research teams with a number of organizations, including Aventis Pasteur in Toronto (Senior Vice President of R&D), and in Lyon, France (Director of Research). He also spent seven years with the French biotechnology company Transgene in Strasbourg, France as a research scientist and part of the management team.

Marie-Kym Brisson has almost 25 years of experience in communication and public affairs in the life science, financial, political and cultural sectors. She has a long track record of achievements in environments influenced by various national sociopolitical agendas. Ms. Brisson holds a political science degree from Université de Montréal and a certificate in communication management from the École des hautes études commerciales, in partnership with the Publicité Club de Montréal.

Gestion Bio-Capital Inc. was founded in 1997 and was led by Ms. Desmarais as Chair of the Board of Administration until the sale of the fund in 2001. She was also a member of the verification and investment committees and member of the private investment evaluation committee at the time of the sale of the fund. Gestion Bio-Capital Inc. was a venture capital organisation specializing in biotech startups.

In recent years, Professor Simard has been working with several international consortia that bring together research teams from five continents. His research involves conducting large-scale epidemiological assessments on the role of genetic variations in determining the risk of developing breast cancer. He is also studying how such risk may be modified by interactions with other genes and environmental and lifestyle factors. This research is helping to accelerate the integration of several types of risk factors into mathematical models used for predicting breast cancer risk.

Daniel Bouthillier is CEO of the Québec Network for Personalized Health Care. He has over 20 years of experience in research administration and has held various positions at Merck&Co, serving as Executive Director of Research Administration and Planning for several research sites in North America. He was also Executive Director for Merck Global Facilities Management with responsibilities for Canada, part of the United States, South America and Asia Pacific.
