Gateway College

Description

The college experience allows students to attain a new independence. Living away from home and managing to balance school and recreation are all part of the process of growing up & learning. The quality of a student's educational experience can be enhanced by his or her surroundings and Gateway College offers students many opportunities for growth. The Gateway College offers a variety of services to help students get settled in their new home.

The program is designed for those who have prior learning or working experience in the field, and would like to upgrade their skills and knowledge to meet/exceed the BC Provincial Standards. This program will help learners to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to function effectively as Health Care Assistants. Successful graduates will be able to provide person-centered care aimed at promoting and maintaining the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of clients/residents.

Since 2009 I knew of Gateway form the newspaper. I thought this college has care aide experience of teaching over 20 years. It must be very good. So I decided to come here to learn. The staff are very nice who told me a lot of messages about care aides. The teachers are also nice. My English is not good. Sometimes I can’t explain very well, but they still listen carefully and try their best to help me. For practicum I also enjoy it. The instructor and staff taught me a lot. So I think that choosing Gateway College is the best, I am very lucky!

Gateway College was founded in July 1986 as Community Professional Medical Careers Ltd. (CPMC). Equipment was purchased, premises were leased, curriculum was developed and the first classes commenced in September 1986.
