Fresh Start Bakery was founded in 2013 in downtown Gowanstown by the owner and principal baker; Dave Tophen. Dave baked for over 20 years for different stores in a major grocery chain, but found he missed the sight, smell and sounds of the fresh baked bread they no longer made in store. After much dreaming and deliberation, he left them in April 2013 to open his own bakery. The bakery is located in the former Gowanstown post office with ample parking right in front of the door. We not only encourage people to shop local, we practice it by purchasing from local suppliers whenever possible.
