Fr and Three Sons Golf Classic

Description

The Father and Three Sons Golf Classic has been a Canadian family golfing tradition for over seventy years. The tournament was founded by the Tilden Family (Tilden Rent-a-Car) of Montreal in 1935. Soon after its inception, the tournament was played at numerous courses in Ontario, and has been played mainly in Ontario since that time. The tournament was cancelled during the Second World War, but was re-kindled when the war ended. For many families, The Father and Three Sons Golf Classic has become a regular part of the family annual agenda, with sons traveling from across the country to attend the event each year. A number of families have participated in the Father and 3 Sons for over 30 years. Fathers with at least three sons qualify to register for the tournament. Some families with more than three sons, hold a qualifying round within the family to determine which three sons will play. In some cases, where a son is not available on the day of the event, due to circumstances beyond his control, a grandson or son in-law may act as a stand-in. However, you must have three sons registered for the tournment in order to play. Families who participated in the tournament the previous year have seniority in the registration process and new families are given "waiting list" status on a first come first served basis. New families are welcome and encouraged to register. In 2007, we had eight new families join our fraternity for the first time and five more new families in 2008.
