Mike Middaugh has over 25 years experience in project controls and management on a wide variety of projects, industries and locations. He has held senior level roles on many high profile projects throughout the world. Mike has experience in all phases of the engineering, procurement and construction process and has worked for both contractor and owner organizations. Mike comes to Fortune after completing projects in the Middle East, Hong Kong, Australia, New Caledonia, Malaysia and Mongolia working for Stone & Webster, Shaw, BHP Billiton, Hatch and Fluor.
Seok Joon Kim has more than 14 years of experience in the mining industry in Canada and in geotechnical engineering and tunneling for civil projects in South Korea. He has previously worked for Vale Canada Limited, MIRARCO-Mining Innovation, Kiheung Corporation Limited, Sambo Engineering Corporation Limited and with the Engineer Group of the Republic of Korea Army.
The Arctos project consists of 16,411 hectares of coal exploration licenses in northwest British Columbia, 330 km northeast of the Pacific Ocean Port of Prince Rupert. The licenses straddle the existing BC Railway right-of-way that was constructed by the BC Government in the 1970’s and was substantially completed to site. This existing brownfield transportation corridor is planned to be completed with rail to the current terminus of track, 150 km south of the proposed mine where the Canadian National Railway Limited is currently operating.
Carl Kottmeier has twenty five years of experience in the mining industry in Canada, including roles in underground and open pit operations, engineering, contracting and in the mine services sector. Carl is an expert in underground and open pit blast design and has significant knowledge of BC mining regulations and First Nations engagement. He has previously worked for Teck Resources, North American Construction Group, ICI Explosives, Orica Canada and Cassiar Mining Corporation.
