FoodFocus is a computer program for nutrition analysis which is: - Canadian- FoodFocus initially used nutrient data provided in the Health Canada publication "Nutrient Values of Some Common Foods" supplemented with data selected from the extended version of the Canadian Nutrient File. It has since been updated with data from the Canadian Nutrient File. It also uses Canadian Recommended Nutrient Intake values. - Easy to Use- You can select foods (by type, by name, by nutrient), review nutrient analysis, sort foods, change quantities, add or delete foods in a few mouse clicks or keystrokes. - Educational- Designed for quick (usually under a second) answers to "What if" questions. Refined with guidance from nutrition professionals and educators. The instructor edition allows you to add foods and customize help information on nutrients and diseases. FoodFocus is a recommended nutrition education resource in Alberta and New Brunswick. It is distributed by the Manitoba Text Book Bureau. - Widely Used- FoodFocus is used across Canada primarily in nutrition education from elementary school to college and university level. It is also used in public health ( usually prenatal) programs and in some institutions. It has received rave reviews since 1993.
