In 2008 Fireworks FX celebrated 25 years of providing a level of professionalism and expertise in pyrotechnics unavailable elsewhere in the region. The Royal Bank of Canada approached us to participate in a national advertising campaign featuring entrepreneurs and small business. Here I am in their ad demonstrating one of our gerb wands. In 1983, Fred Wade created a new business to bring expertise and professionalism to fireworks displays in eastern Canada, Fireworks Unlimited Inc. He was a crew member at the 35th anniversary of the Quebec Winter Carnival in 1984. In 1985 he represented the east coast of Canada on the Canadian Fireworks team at the very first Benson & Hedges Fireworks Festival in Montreal. Fireworks Unlimited was asked by the Dept. of External Affairs in Ottawa to take part in an Exposition in Santiago, Chile, and to shoot a Canadian fireworks display on 2 occasions. Unfortunately we were unable to do so because of the political situation at the time. We were contacted by one of the leading resorts in Ochos Rios Jamaica to design and shoot a major display for their 10th anniversary. In 1988 we conducted a market survey trip to Trinidad, St. Vincent and Barbados in the hopes of arranging export sales of Canadian fireworks to this market. 1992 was the year of the first Festival of Light in Halifax and Sydney, which Fireworks Unlimited was instrumental in bringing about. A series of 6 major simulcast pyromusicals were fired from barge locations in Halifax and Sydney harbours with the last display being featured in its entirety by a live satellite broadcast on ASN, our regional television network.
