School Updates Cancelled Events & Closures Events Relocated/Rescheduled/Not Cancelled Fire Fundraisers School Updates School District 23 Students started school Tuesday September 2nd. See Press Release. Schools currently under Evacuation Alert are functioning as normal. Okanagan Montessori Elementary and Preschool, on East Kelowna Road, remains on evacuation alert. Please check the school message if you are in doubt about our status. School started on Monday, Sept. 8, with a regular full day for elementary and all-day kg. children, 8:30-3:30. For returning preschool children, school started at 8:30, and 12:30 on Tues., Sept. 9. Buses will remain onsite in case of an Evacuation Order. Children will be evacuated to a location which will be disclosed to parents as they arrive at school this week. Families needing assistance in this stressful time, please contact the school, at 860-1165. Many are offering help. Our families and staff extend sympathy and concern concern for all people affected in any way by the fire. Waldorf School students and parents - The 2003/04 school year has been delayed due to the Okanagan Mountain Park fire as the school was located in the evacuated area. Classes for Pre-school, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 - 8 at the Collett Road location started on Monday September 8th. Pre-school classes at the Cameron house location also began September 8th. The school office is observing regular business hours. top Cancelled Events & Closures -The Parkinson Recreation Center Pool will resume operation on September 22nd. A mechanical problem has necessitated closure of the pool until repairs can be made. -The Kettle Valley Steam Railway is no longer running due to extreme fire hazard. -Sea Cadets are scheduled for Sept 3rd to be at the Armoires for their first night back. Cadets will remain in Stand Down until the end of Sept or until further notice. The Armoires is in use at this time. -Navy League Cadets are scheduled for Sept 5th to be at the Armoires for their first night back.
