Filotech Electrodes Inc. is the only all-Canadian independent manufacturer of hardfacing and rebuilding wires, including chrome carbide overlay wires. Filotech manufactures everything from "scratch" and formulates on its own premises. We are problem solvers and we have been very successful at manufacturing custom wires and formulations on behalf of our customers. We are known for our expertise in solving wear issues throughout the country in the mining, quarrying, pulp and paper, agricultural, railway, foundry and hydroelectric industries. Since our humble beginnings 25 years ago, we have become a benchmark in the industry. Filotech products are offered through distributors and private label sales. Technical sales training courses are available to support the product line. In the case of direct sales to customers, welding seminars are offered to those directly involved in the welding and maintenance processes. These include but are not limited to, welders, assemblers, foremen and department supervisors, thus completing the Filotech loop from concept to implementation.

Filotech’s involvement in the Oilsands dates back to the mid nineties as a supplier of flux-cored maintenance and repair welding wires under private label. Over the past 5 years however, the Filotech brand label has taken concrete steps to participate in the development of new products required in the high wear applications that define the Oilsands. Filotech has participated and displayed at 4 National Buyers & Sellers Forums as well as displayed at the last 4 Oilsands Trade Shows in both Edmonton & more recently in Fort McMurray. Filotech presently supplies several companies in the Alberta market which service the Oilsands. We have been asked to present our company as a viable, alternate supplier of chrome-carbide overlay wires for straight pipe as well as various elbow configurations.

Filotech Electrodes is uniquely positioned to offer consultation, suggestions and advice to our customers due to our start to finish bond with the products that we produce. After-sales follow-ups are a regular and critical element of our day to day business. Filotech Electrodes supplies quality maintenance and repair flux-cored wires and stick electrodes. Our primary business is the manufacture of flux-cored hardfacing and rebuilding wires. Our products are used primarily as maintenance and repair products in a wide range of heavy industries: quarrying, mining, railway, foundry, heavy construction, pulp and paper, etc. Filotech also offers a line of custom manufactured stick electrodes for use in m & r, in all the industrial applications listed above.

There are several methods for plates to be installed into existing production equipment. They can be welded into place (since the base metal is a carbon steel). They can also be bolted into place using counter sunk bolts into pre-welded inserts. The pictures on the left demonstrate the use of "Nelson" studs. These headless bolts are basically "shot" into the base metal at the back of the plate. They can then be bolted down from behind with the appropriate nut. The entire process of plate welding and coordinating the proper installation of "Nelson studs" is carried out by Plaquetec Inc. As usual, Filotech Electrodes Inc manufactures all of the wires used in these applications.
