After incorporating, Fairbarn's Machine Shop Ltd. operated out of its Vickers Street location for 20 years. The business was acquired by its present owners, and the shop was moved to its present location at 1094 Russell Street in 1996. Additional machining capacity, including a lathe capable of handling 27 foot by 30 inch diameter rolls was installed. Another lathe with a 72 inch swing was added. Material handling hoists were added at key locations, and a bridge crane with 10 ton capacity was installed, as well as additional transport access to the workshop. In 2001, the fabrication shop received Canadian Welding Bureau certification, and additional fabricating machinery was installed. A computer aided plate cutting machine was installed in 2003.
