RPlusD is the latest software from AcoustiSoft. The software was written with the experience of creating five analyzers previous, all designed to meet the needs of users and available technology of the time in which the analyzer was developed. RPlusD is simply the best available analyzer for room acoustics measurement for the purpose of hifi sound in small and medium sized rooms available at any price. It is as easy to operate as can be with the guiding principle of getting measurements that are (1) verifiabe (2) consistent, and most importantly (3) repeatable. Many analyzers on the market may be free or cheaper, but none or so thoroughly designed with goal of obtaining accurate and repeatable measurements in mind using typical computer hardware. Consideration and years of experience using the PC and sound card has lead to us discovering possible weaknesses in the chain causing measurement errors that our competition has not considered or discovered. RPlusD required a re-writing of the manual as well as consulting with outside experts and redesigning measurement techniques to ensure that the user would obtain accurate, verifiable and repeatable results. Before making a purchase of any analyzer, we recommend reading the RPlusD manual first, to see what is required for accurate, repeatable and verifiable results. Our experience shows that many users of lesser products take measurements that do not meet these requirements. The methods required in meeting these critical requirements are illustrated throughout the 160 page manual (mostly diagrams and graphics of example measurements). All operations of the software are carefully explained and illustrated. Consulting services are also provided for users that are uncomfortable with signal processing and EQ functions but comfortable enough with computers to operate the software. This service is good for busy people who wish to learn the software functions quickly with their own room used as an example. The RPlusD enhancement license which includes curve fitting for automatic filter estimation from measurements in normal rooms to isolate resonances as well as the ability to take measurements using a test signal CD and eliminating the normally required computer - sound card electrical connection. This system is not ideal and details of this are explained and shown in the CD Test Signal window help link. This feature was written for experienced users that understand the measurements well enough to understand the parasitic effects of this new system of wireless data gathering. Dealers and installers will appreciate its (normally impossible)high resolution, speed and convenience from this measurement. The upgrade also now includes emulation of the Behringer DCX 2496 loudspeaker management system. This is a digital electronic crossover for bi/tri amplified speakers or to simulate crossovers in analogue systems for people wishing to build their own crossovers. Existing ETF users please take note: RPlusD is the ETF5 replacement. It is affectively ETF6. ETF customers that purchased the basic version of ETF software receive the basic version of R + D if ETF was purchased 3 years previous to the order date. Users of ETF can can request a free RPlusD license under the above conditions. The basic version of RPlusD includes the features of the enhancement package in ETF. The license to a basic version of ETF entitles the user to receive the basic version of RPlusD which will provide a greater degree of flexibility to take measurements and compare results. The basic version is all that is required to take room measurements and optimize acoustics. The basic version of RPlusD provides all of the features that were included in the enhancement package for ETF such as loudspeaker distortion measurements & the psychological response measurement.
