Environmental Biodetection Products Inc. (EBPI) is an environmental biotechnology firm dedicated to the production, R&D and marketing of biotechnology-based environmental testing products. EBPI is a private company incorporated in 1992. BEAK International Inc. is an EBPI shareholder. BEAK International Inc. is a specialized technology-based environmental consulting company employing approximately 200 scientists and engineers. BEAK has offices in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
EBPI is a technological leader in: toxicity, genotoxicity, and mutagenicity colorimetric bioassays based on freeze dried bacteria and specialized reagents; microbial colorimetric bioassay based on specialized media with specific inducers, substrates and sterilized polymerizing agent.
EBPI products are self-contained kits requiring minimal facilities and no previous analytical experience. They are rapid, reliable, cost-effective and easy to use. Individual kits are as follows;
Toxi-Chromotest: A microplate toxicity bioassay to determine acute toxicity in water, effluent and other liquids.Toxi-ChromoPad: A pad toxicity bioassay to determine acute toxicity in sediments, sludge, soils, or other solid waste material.SOS-Chromotest: A microplate genotoxicity bioassay based on the primary response of a genetically engineered bacteria to determine DNA genotoxicity damage in water, wastewater, sediment, air chemicals, food, cosmetics, and biological fluids.
Muta-ChromoPlate: A microplate version of the traditional 'pour plate' Ames Test, considerable more sensitive and user friendly, to detect DNA mutagenic activity in water, wastewater, sediment, air, chemicals, food, cosmetics and biological fluids.Coliplate: A bioassay for quantitative measure of coliform and E. coli, indicative of fecal pollution in water and wastewater. Watercheck: A qualitative bioassay for the presence/absense of Coliforms and E. coli in potable water supplies.
EBPI's test kits are designed to adapt to the needs of: industry, municipalities, academia, research and analytical laboratories, environmental consultants, governments, health and nature preservation organizations. EBPI has clients worldwide and frequently works in partnership with them to meet their environmental challenges.
