Duane Benson is an IT consultant who has worked in the computer industry since 1991. He began his career working on process control hardware and LAN installations at an electric utility before he started developing web applications in 1996. Duane has since architected and developed many large web applications for numerous clients in several countries. Throughout his work experiences, Duane has worked within a variety of environments where quality control and testing procedures have ranged from non-existent to overbearing. As a result, Duane has developed an interest in organizing software delivery teams by using tools and procedures that encourage deliverables of consistently high quality. To accomplish Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Duane typically focuses on areas such as: effective source control, unit testing, centralized defect tracking, regression testing, stress testing and automated build processes.Duane uses these types of tools and procedures to co-ordinate the efforts of the various stakeholders in the software development process. Duane prefers the Agile approach wherever practical due to the unpredictable nature of software development. Short iterations and a willingness to adjust the project parameters are important factors in a successful software project.
