Description

Trained as a stills photographer in England, Derek moved to Canada and enjoyed a very successful career in fashion and editorial photography. He slowly began to specialize in tabletop and more specifically food photography. Cookbooks as well as national advertising print campaigns and editorial photography on both sides of the Atlantic were a steady diet until twenty years ago when his talents turned to film production. Derek's devotion or obsession to food photography has resulted in him being considered one of North America's premier Food Directors. Shooting hundreds of commercials for clients such as Kellogg's, Dairy Queen, Pepsi, Kraft, General Foods, KFC and many others. Trained in food styling, home economist skills, as well as a having a well-trained eye for perfection. The continual quest to push the limits of his reel has resulted in Shoot Magazine describing him as the "Hip Hop director of food". In recent years with broader exposure from the Internet, Derek is developing a worldwide client base. The USA & Mexico being the largest, but shoots for the UK and Europe are not unusual and is presently in negotiations for upcoming food shoots in both Russia and Norway. A television food show, spinning off a recently published cookbook by Derek Case and Andrew Berry is in the works as is a food-related documentary.
