Description
Ferns are our passion and the Mule Deer wander through daily, nibbling on everything except the ferns. In keeping with the name, we have planted many Deer Fern and Sword Fern, native to coastal forests, to accompany the other species of native ferns that grow here. Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir and Grand Fir build the coastal forest we see around us. Our property boast all of these species. A diverse birdlife thrives in our forest--woodpeckers, hummingbirds, Northern Flickers and ravens, to mention only a few. In winter, the music of the thrush is a moment of magic. Chattering red squirrels will entertain you, as will the deer and the birds. The eagles fly by constantly, can't promise you'll see them....but probably... It is extremely rare, however, there is chance to see pods of whales or dolphins.
