DancEgypt is a Saskatoon based company trained in, and dedicated to, the preservation and performance of traditional Egyptian dance both folkloric and cabaret. A long time member of the Saskatoon community, DancEgypt has studied, taught and performed Middle Eastern dance for over 20 years. Working with the Masters of the Dance, many originally from Cairo, they have worked diligently to represent Middle Eastern dance authentically and accurately. Years ago, they began hosting international Masters and instructors for a biannual workshop and production for dancers from across Western Canada. During this time, they began producing shows that centered on a theme that increasingly crossed the boundaries of traditional dance. Integrating actors, multi media and story lines, they rapidly established a reputation for an excellent product and as a result, are well known in the Middle Eastern dance world. The shows, normally held at the Centennial Auditorium, are always sold out in advance of the production. Our dancers are passionate about the Egyptian culture and dance. Many of them have been with us for several years which has meant that we could grow and develop as a company and troupe. Several of them also have acting experience so performing theatrical dance is something they really enjoy.
