In the 1960s, Clement Robert had a dream. He wanted to become a prominent road builder in Manitoba. Clem had worked for Manitoba highways for over 20 years and had been training engineers on how to build roads and he was tired of having young engineers being trained by him and then they would become his boss. Because he did not have an engineering degree, he could never advance. So, on March 5th, 1968 Crushrite was founded when Clem Robert & Mike Kowal purchased Wilf Chegwin Construction Ltd. The company was a road construction company.
