Description
to inner peace and living a life of Love, Laughter and Abundance. I was born in Ontario Canada and raised a military mans' son. In fact, the majority of my immediate family and relatives have at one time served our country in the Canadian Armed Forces. I have seen photographs of my family members in Egypt, Iraq, Cyprus and many other places while they were stationed there. However; at a very early age and after having spent about a year in the reserve forces, I decided to step to the beat of a different drummer. That drummer was me! I smoked a lot of pot during high school and achieved only average grades, so playing music seemed to be the natural choice for the lad who played the drums for the first time at age three. My parents had taken me to a relatives' home where a jam session was taking place. Several musicians had gathered together to blend their styles and sounds and at one point in the evening I climbed up on the "drum throne" to give it a try. "He has a natural talent,” they cheered and the rest, as they say, is history. During my eighteenth year I was offered a gig with a traveling band. I hit the road playing drums in music groups all across the country. In my cowboy hat, military haircut, boots and jeans, I toured our country for about 22 years plus, seeing the sights, meeting new people and playing some great country music. By the time I was twenty I had stopped using drugs and consumed only nominal amounts of alcohol; life seemed to be right on track for me, but things aren't always what they seem. . . On one of these road tours I met and married the woman, who with me, co-created three wonderful sons; Charley IV. Roy and Tom. It was during this marriage that I realized I was not living my own life, at all although I had no idea what that might be. Depressed and afraid I began running; the marriage ended. Who am" I "? Why am I on this planet? What should I be doing? I prayed every day for the answers but could hear none. The guilt and shame I felt from the break down of my marriage among other things lead me back into the dark world of drugs, alcohol and abusive behaviours. I was miserable inside and there didn't seem to be enough mood altering substances available to numb my pain. Then I met a woman who seemed to be the rock I needed as I looked outside of myself for the love I so lacked inside. I didn't know then that everything I needed was already in me.
